The Society of St. John the Evangelist (SSJE) in Cambridge offers a Student Residency Program for graduate students who want to live, work, and pray alongside the Brothers and support their ministry of hospitality.
Two options:

Academic-Year Residency (early Sept–late May): Open to currently enrolled (rising second year or above) graduate students at a Boston-area university (remote/hybrid may be considered). Residents attend at least one service per day and help with hospitality work (~5–7 hrs/week).

Summer Residency (6 weeks, July–Aug): For currently enrolled (rising second or third year) graduate students pursuing a degree with intent to pursue ministry. Includes a formation program in monastic spirituality; residents attend all services and work ~12–15 hrs/week.
Support / what’s included:

Room and board for all residents (you must have your own health insurance).

Academic-year: modest monthly allowance.

Summer: $3,600 stipend + travel reimbursement to Boston.
