A room in Beane House has opened for fall of 2026-Summer 2027. Rent is $1150 including all utilities. The lease runs from 9/1/2026-8/31/2027.

This is a private room in an apartment of five people on the top floor of Beane House, which is an intentional living community of STH students.

SSJE Student Residency (Cambridge, MA) – Room & Board Included (Summer 2026 / Academic Year 2026–27)

The Society of St. John the Evangelist (SSJE) in Cambridge offers a Student Residency Program for graduate students who want to live, work, and pray alongside the Brothers and support their ministry of hospitality.

Two options:

Academic-Year Residency (early Sept–late May): Open to currently enrolled (rising second year or above) graduate students at a Boston-area university (remote/hybrid may be considered). Residents attend at least one service per day and help with hospitality work (~5–7 hrs/week).
Summer Residency (6 weeks, July–Aug): For currently enrolled (rising second or third year) graduate students pursuing a degree with intent to pursue ministry. Includes a formation program in monastic spirituality; residents attend all services and work ~12–15 hrs/week.

Support / what’s included:

Room and board for all residents (you must have your own health insurance).
Academic-year: modest monthly allowance.
Summer: $3,600 stipend + travel reimbursement to Boston.

Deadlines (2026–27 cycle):

Summer 2026: January 15
Academic Year 2026–27: February 1

Rooms in Beane House

Two rooms available for sublet in Beane House, starting January 1 and ending August 31:

Location: 187 Strathmore Rd, Boston, MA (located directly on Green Line, B branch, Chesnut Hill Ave Stop

Rent: both rooms cost $1,100, utilities included. In addition, all residents of Beane House receive $400 a month in housing scholarship from STH (please note this scholarship is taxable).

Room #1: On the first floor, street-facing side. Shares two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room space with 3 other students from the School of Theology. Dimensions 12.5 x 13.

Room #2: On the third floor. Shares bathroom with one other roommate. Shares kitchen and living space with 4 other students from the School of Theology. Dimensions 7 x 15.
