Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary’s Center for Climate Justice and Faith is hiring a Coordinator for its Certificate in Community Organizing for Climate Justice. Working with the Director and the Associate Director of the Center for Climate Justice and Faith, the Coordinator will coordinate the planning, promotion, and teaching of the Community Organizing for Climate Justice Certificate program. Primary areas for initiative and focus are recruitment and instruction for an online, cohort-based community organizing training program that equips learners for effective leadership toward climate justice in any of its many forms. This curriculum is a 9-month program involving approximately two hours of weekly engagement by learners. 

The ideal candidate would have 5+ years of experience in community organizing and training community organizers, significant knowledge of climate justice movements, experience building online community, and experience working with faith communities. The ideal candidate would be self-directed, people-oriented, and passionate about climate justice. The Coordinator may live anyplace within the U.S. The position will be 15 – 20 hours per week.

Fellows spend two intensive weeks in Germany and Poland, visiting sites of historical significance and examining the role of German clergy & religious leaders in enabling and supporting Nazi policies.

Fellows then draw on historical examples to reflect on contemporary professional responsibility and the ethical issues currently facing religious leaders today.
